7 Weeks after Surgery

So 7 weeks after surgery I am still trying to figure out how to eat and trying to remember to eat. I have not had the sensation of being hungry since surgery. Now some would say that this is a blessing. But if you have had surgery like me and can not eat as much then remembering to eat is very important. Also important is eating the right things.

I found out early that fried food like chicken nuggets or chicken fingers are bad for me. Now don't get me wrong, they taste well going down, but not so good coming back up. One of the side effects (if you will) of the surgery is that my body does not break down food until after it passes my original stomach that has been reattached below my new stomach pouch. Because of this oil and suger for instance do not break down. In fact if I have more than 5 grams of sugar in a meal I get a rapid heart rate, my body sweats, and my intestines crap. So needless to say I am not a fan of sugar.

Because of this what we will call "dumping" syndrome I stay away from chocolate and anything with sugar. Most of you know I was an avid Dr. Pepper fan. I have not had one in 2 months. My new favorite drink is sugar free cherry kool-aid. In fact, I am a fan of most all things non sugar. I have also found that sugar free fudge pops are the bomb. My new favorite candy is tic tacs.

One thing I have found hard is eating protein for breakfast. I don't really like eggs and you don't get enough protein with peanut butter. But I had someone give me the idea of eating lunch meat so I am trying that. Oh yeah something else I cant eat that I used to love was spaghetti. It now gets stuck so I have had to try to find new noodle options. Let me know if you have a good one I can try.

Now that you have read all of this I have some great news. My weight as of today was 428LBS. Now this is the unofficial weight I will have the official weight on Wednesday. So until then thanks for all your prayers and support. I promise to write more now that I have more energy.
