1 week after surgery

So it is one week since I can home from surgery. I am still having a little discomfort when I sleep but other than that I am doing good. My diet starting this week is soft consistency food, food like mash potato, eggs, grits, stuff like that. I have been able to walk several times a day most days. The only thing I have eaten that did not agree with me was a baked potato. I have not eaten any meat yet that is next week and I am ready for it. As of yesterday I was down to 456lb. Now if you read my earler post you will see that it is not much more than what i had already lost. True as it may be I have lost 15 lbs since coming home from surgery. They pumped my full of liquid so I gained about 10 lbs from surgery. Plus I am now able to get out and walk more. I am looking forward to being able to run. I was talking to a friend this week and she asked me what my goal weight was. My goal weight is 225-250lbs. She asked when the last time was was down that low I said freshman year of high school, almost 20 years ago. Oh well here is the start of a beautiful thing.

Weight loss Surgery

So about six months ago after talking to several doctors we decided the best course of action for mt to be able to lose weight would be bariatric surgery. More particluarly the Roux-en-Y bypass. So about three months ago we started making preparation for surgery by meeting doctors and going to educational classes. After several months we were now ready to go forward.

Six weeks ago I started replacing one meal with a protein shake. Four weeks ago I replace two meals with protein shakes. The last week I have replaced all my meals with straight liquid like sugar free jello, sugar free Popsicle, soup broth, and protein shakes.

My starting weight at the beginning when we first started meeting with the weight loss group was almost 499LBS. On Thursday the fourth of August I weight 479LBS. I am going to try to write about my success and failures with the bypass. And am also looking for some help from my friends along the way. I will post regular updated picture and weight on this blog for all to see.
